Bio
Terrell Shaw is a Georgia storyteller whose repertoire includes folktales, family stories, personal narratives, ghost stories, and tall tales rooted in Southern memory, humor, and history.
A retired educator with 33 years in the classroom, Terrell later served as Storyteller/Naturalist at the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Arrowhead Environmental Education Center, where he used stories to spark curiosity about history, folklore, wildlife, and the natural world.
He has shared stories with audiences of all ages at festivals, schools, libraries, churches, camps, folk schools, senior communities, and community gatherings throughout the Southeast. His festival appearances include featured performances at the Stone Soup Storytelling Festival and the Hagood Mill Storytelling Festival.
A longtime member of Georgia’s storytelling community, Terrell helped cofound the Ridge and Valley Storytelling Guild and served for eight years on the board of the Georgia Storytelling Network.
Terrell is a two-time Big Fibbers champion and winner of the South Carolina Liars Contest. Known for blending warmth, wit, and the everyday absurdities of ordinary life, his stories celebrate the people, places, and experiences that shape Southern life and memory.
